VIDEO LECTURES

Welcome to the video lectures section of my portfolio, where technology meets education. Below is a sampling of my video lectures. These presentations bridge theory with real-world examples, tailored for various courses.

Balance

In this lecture, the concept of balance in fashion design is explored. The lecture delves into the importance of balance, touching on visual weight and gravity's role in design. It introduces different types of balance, such as horizontal, vertical, and radial, while also emphasizing the role of patterns in achieving balance. Symmetry, where both sides of a design are identical, and approximate symmetry, which involves subtle variations, are discussed, alongside the concept of asymmetry, which adds excitement and liveliness to designs. The video also touches upon radial balance, which arranges elements around a central point. Various methods like pleats, folds, seams, appliques, and patterns are highlighted for creating balance in fashion design. Additionally, the lecture explains that in three-dimensional fashion design, balance is considered from different angles, including symmetrical, radial, and asymmetrical balance. Finally, the importance of practice, using mannequins and scale models, is stressed for developing skills and experimenting with design balance in the field of fashion.

Texture, Light, and Pattern

This lecture delves into two key aspects of fashion design: texture and patterns. In the first part, we explore the significance of texture in clothing, both in terms of tactile sensation and visual appearance. It discusses how fabric properties such as fiber, yarn, and finish influence texture, and how designers leverage these properties to create unique fashion statements. Moving on to the next section, the focus shifts to patterns. Patterns are formed by repeating design elements on clothing, with motifs serving as the foundational components. The lecture explains the diversity of motifs, drawn from nature, culture, and imagination, and how they are arranged to create various patterns. Understanding motif selection and layout is essential for textile and fashion designers, enabling them to craft visually captivating and culturally meaningful designs. The lecture also explores the historical and contemporary relevance of patterns in fashion, emphasizing their role as both artistic expressions and cultural symbols.
